what are the differences between them and which is better?
shareSamurai X usually refers to the OVAs Trust and Betrayal and Reflection. The first OVA tells the story of Kenshin's life before he becomes a wanderer; the second does an abysmal job of describing his life after the entire series.
The series itself is just called Rurouni Kenshin.

In some places (like Latinamerica), "Rurouni Kenshin" was broadcasted in the mid nineties on open national TV as "Samurai X". The same anime with a different name, so people (mostly kids) don't get confused with strange names.
In the late nineties, however, there was a bunch of young people that knew the manga and therefore, the ral name of the anime, "Rurouni Kenshin".
In this days, everyone knows it as "Rurouni Kenshin", just like everyone knows "Los Caballeros del Zodiaco" (Knights of the Zodiac) as their real name, "Saint Seiya".
