The reason it is so good is that it is so incredibly quick-witted. The producers and writers packed more gags, jokes, one-liners, puns, gaffs, malaprops, sight gags, prat falls, and jabs at modern lfe and relationships into a 30 minute episode than most purportedly funny 2 hour movies could ever hope to pull off. The animation was great, the relationships between the characters was well developed, most of the plot lines were original and it was a breath of fresh air on stale old formula-based television. Even in reruns 5 years or more later it still kicks the hell out of almost anything else on the tube and yet it doesn't get nearly the respect or exposure it rightly deserves. It is indeed unbelievably under-rated.
