How is Brian an atheist?

When I was a child I met Santa.....still don't believe in him though!

I think, at this point, after having been through all these adventures where he met also God and Jesus, his atheism should be chalked up in the "bad writing" cathegory:

the authors don't care about logic. Nor about continuity. Brian is an intelligent person, and in reality he would draw the conclusions. Or at least give an explaination about why he persists in his, obviously wrong, beliefs. He does neither, instead he's written the same way as years before, with no evolution whatsoever.

Either that, or he's a superficial stereotyped liberal, thus he must be atheist to show off his counterculturalism. But that's also bad writing.
