The writers should try the reading pyramid

The four levels of comprehensive reading.

1. Factor
2. Inferential
3. Critical
4. Creative

This is definitely the kind of new ideas family guy should try.

As usual, I'm missing your point because as I see it, wouldn't the writers benefit more with improved skills of writing instead of reading?
Also, out of curiosity, where are you getting this 'Reading Pyramid' & these 'Four levels of Comprehensive Reading'?
In a web search I can find a 3-level model of reading comprehension for teachers, those being Literal comprehension, Inferential comprehension & Evaluative comprehension.
I can also find Literal, Inferential and Critical Comprehensive Reading but not 'Factor' & 'Creative'.

I was suggesting that the writers should take a least a year or two sabbatical to review past episodes and read the comments of every episode of relating to this topic and work on revitalizing the show by finding the strengths and weaknesses of every writer in order to salvage the show back to original plots.

And how to you propose the show stay on the air with the writers taking a two year hiatus?
Do you really think FOX will just say... 'sure, we don't need to air episodes for two seasons... just take a break and 'find yourselves''.

reply

The entire show takes a year sabbatical or two to fix the problems with the show.

 Yeah... I'm sure FOX will get right on that.

It might be a huge change for family guy for the better.

If the showrunner or Seth went to the FOX brass and told them they'd be taking two years off, there would be a change alright, it would change into the cancelled-for-the-third-time Family Guy.

reply

So? I'm pretty sure Fox will bring it back a third time.

Let me turn on my sarcasm detector... Of course they would [*beep-beep-beep*] yep, working fine.
As we know FOX is constantly bringing cancelled shows back on their network.
Let's list them shall we ...
1] Family Guy
2] X-Files
3] ...
4] ...

Anyone ... anyone?

If it was south park, people would definitely bring it back to life if they were in the same situation as family guy.

We're talking about what the FOX network would do. What Comedy Central would or wouldn't do is irrelevant although a cable network can give longer hiatuses to shows so if retooling is required it can be done easier than it could on network television.

I'm just saying that family guy needs their edge back like to be popular again like South Park.

Do you really want to rehash this conversation from November http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0182576/board/nest/263686045?d=263697216#263697216
Family Guy doesn't need to be popular again compared to South Park since by all available evidence [e.g. ratings] Family Guy is more popular.

reply

No what I said was that family guy needs better writers and more high rated episodes like road to the multiverse.

No you didn't. You said the existing [not new or better] writers should take up to two years off focusing on this supposed four level 'Reading Pyramid'.

FG will never get the kind of ratings they received with Road to the Multiverse. It was watched by over 10 million viewers. Sure it would be great for FG or any show for that matter to still be getting 10 million viewers 15 seasons in & with the exception of NCIS, shows usually don't get those kind of numbers that far into their run.

reply

True but it might be a better idea if the writers collaborate together and serialize the show by fixing the characters so everyone would stop bitching over everything.

reply

"Everyone" would never stop bitching because you can't please everyone.

At any rate, this whole discussion is silly because neither Seth nor FOX care all that much about what you personally think writers should do.

Everybody needs love. Have you held your hostage today?

reply

For me it was never personal. I was saying if all fans of FG were open minded we wouldn't have so much complaints.

Lemme guess, you found a free writing workshop at the local community college and think you're a writer now? LMAO!

reply

No I'm only a freshman.

reply

I think as a joke, the writers really should put a bunch of nouns, verbs and pop culture references into a box and pick them out randomly and see what kind of zany cutaways they can Frankenstein together.
