But I guess that's the joke. That Meg is actually cool and pretty compared to her friends.

 Yep. I love how he clarified that and while that's really pathetic that Brian (I guess he's a grown up?) would try something like that on a date... that would be one of those things that sounded awesome if you were in Jr. High or your early years of High School.
