Marguerite's betrayal?

How does 'Chovlon' learn of the Scarlet Pimpernel's identity? Is it through that twisted version of Marguerite's understudy, Minette? And if so, how does that really qualify as betrayal? Marguerite merely throws Chauvelin a scrap of information about a safe house (the ONLY safe house, apparently) that the League use in Paris. Why mess with the plot line, if it doesn't make any sense once it's been changed?

Hi Flippitygibbit (what does that mean?!?!)
Anyway... I was under the impression that it was that petite blonde - lady - actress (whose name I don't know, so sorry - is that Minette?) who talked to Chovelin or Chovolon or Chobelon (umm... I couldn't spell it for the life of me) told him that the Scarlet Pimpernel or someone of the league was to be in the restuarant. That's why perhaps she was looking so sheepish afterwards!
If my opionion is supremly misguided (which it so often is !) please feel obliged to correct me!

No, that sounds correct. I thought Minette was involved somewhere. I suppose they had to switch the Scarlet Pimpernel's 'Judas' from an unknowing Marguerite to Minette 'Who the hell is she?', to give Emilia Fox something to do. If that's the case, though, they should just have let Emilia Fox play Marguerite instead of messing with the story - Fox is far better looking than Elizabeth McGovern too! Thanks for replying!

And a flippitygibbit, though not spelled in quite the same way, is a 'flighty gossiping person' - I just liked the word!
