There was no official announcement, but the Scooby Doobies won the most competitions.

I didn't know there was a whole competition here, I always felt it was just week by week. I did watch this show every Saturday morning when it originally aired (1977, so I was 9 and in 4th grade), and I did really like it. I unfortunately never got to see it again after that, as never found it in syndication in the late 1970s or 1980s. But I often thought about it in the 1980s, and listed it as one of my three all time favorite cartoons then, by Cartoon Olympics. I didn't remember its true name, but always have remembered each episode's format-that three teams, the Scooby Doos (with Scooby Doo as captain), Yogi Yahoos (with Yogi Bear as captain), and Really Rottens (don't remember who their captain was, if do know tell me) would have their members compete in various Olympic type sporting events. Each would win some, but in the end it would be revealed that the Really Rottens had cheated, and most of their points would be deducted and they'd always finish third. And the Scooby Doos and Yogi Yahoos would always rotate winning and finishing second every week, in a close point total. I always said I rotated pulling for them to win, but never pulled for the RRs (and my younger sister also watched it with me, and said it would be a long time before she pulled for them). This does seem very corny for me to be writing now as a 40 year old left wing liberal, but..... So to answer the post, I think the SDs and YYs basically split the weekly competitions, with the RRs winning none, and I do not know at all who won the whole competition (if there was one).

I USED TO WATCH THESE SHOWS LIKE A HAWK AND THE LAST EPISODE THE TEAM WITH THE ROBOTIC SCOOBY DOO WON THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT. I FORGOT WHAT THE TEAMS NAME WAS, BUT I KNOW 100% FOR SURE IT WAS THE LAST EPISODE AND THE WINNER OF THE WHOLE TOURNAMNET WAS THE TEAM WITH THE ROBOTIC SCOOBY DOO!!!!

I loved the Really Rottons and I thought the Show was rigged so Scooby or Yogi would win every week. I think the Really rottons actually won 1 week and I was so happy.

actually scooby doos team was not in last place for a while...pretty cool stuff

reply

As I remember the Scoobys (no, not Buffy and her friends) won every week, it was his show after all, and I was bummed cause I rooted for the Yogis

Of the 24 episodes, here's the results:

Overall points wins

The Scooby Doobies: 14 (including the series openier)
The Yogi Yahooeys: 7
The Really Rottens: 2 (both wins came in the second season)
3 way tie: 1 (series finalie)

(of course this was off the final point tally at the end of each episode.)

I remember the Scooby's winning most weeks with Yogi's team sometimes getting a victory.

Its that man again!!

reply

Yeah, I got tired of Scooby's team always winning. Yogi was funnier and better in my opinion. But Yogi did win several times.

reply

Yeah, it was usually the Scooby team. But Yogi's team did win once or twice. The Villians NEVER won.

reply

The Rottens did win, as noted here, at least twice, and I remember the three way tie, also.

What BUMMED me about the points was a sand castle making contest, judged by Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, and Yogi's teammate, possibly Yogi himself, made the sand castle. It was BRILLIANT!

Fred and Barney standing there, smiling, then a wave came up and washed it away.

Uh oh, no points now. I'm like, you jerks! Was he supposed to make the sand castle out of stone or something?

Definitely Fred and Barney's lowest moment for me.

Often times it seemed the pointed was unfair like this, against the Yogis and in Scooby's favor.
