what happened to the first boss?

I'm not a huge fan or anything, I actually think Max Wright is a much better choice. But I'm just curious because I just watched in Ep5 of the first season they "killed" him off, off camera, in the first 2 minutes.

so my question is, does anyone know what brought this on? get fired, jump ship to another show, quit acting and follow his real passion to be a Canadian Mountie, die in real life? or is it just an unknown?
(if you dont have a real answer, theres always the snarky speculation)

I know this post is like two years old, so you will never see this, but he is aiming a gun at Norm and the cops shoot him. Presumably, he was driven crazy by Norm.

I don't know anything about the actor though.

I think based on context, the OP meant why did the actor leave, not what happened to the character.
