What happen to Bryan O'Dell?

Anyone know about the actor Bryan O'Dell who played Youngblood?
I enjoyed him on What's Happening, The White Shadow, and other shows.
He was cute, charming, witty, believable in any role.
I wondered why he didn't continue to have success. He's one of many
talented actors of color in the 70's didn't get the breaks they deserved
when the 70's ended.
