Did anyone else cry like a bitch?

Like, damn.

Communism was just a Red herring!

What part made you cry? The film has never made me cry, but it always leaves me feeling melancholy at the end. When I was younger and I first saw it, I thought, "Wow, what a cool life to live! I want to be like Penny Lane!" But now I've just realized how sad it is. I feel so sorry for her getting treated like she's disposable.

From when she gets on the plane and Will is running through the airport until the end.

Hmm ... cry?

I thought the ending was happy.

1). Penny goes to Morocco, which signifies that she pursued his dreams and will likely live happily ever after.

2). The kid got his story verified.

3). The band is still touring on bus (not plane), so you should presume that they will be alright. They got the cover of Rolling Stone.

4). The mother has become more accepting of rock n’ roll, as indicated by her exchange with Russell when Russell visited. The mother also reconciled with the daughter who left. The cheerful scene where they had dinner together means they will be alright.

Overall, the ending was happy for all our characters. Why did you cry?

The mother also reconciled with the daughter who left.

That was a scene that made me tear up a bit. Mostly from the perspective of the mother, which may seem a bit strange knowing that I am a man. But you can see the mother sort of develop a fear of losing both children during the film, which made the reunion a happy and a bit emotional moment.

The only part that got me a tad choked up was when William and Russell FINALLY got to have the interview and Russell realizes that he can't put it off anymore. When William asks, "What do you love about music?"... it's the way Russell responds, "To begin with.... Everything."

Billy Crudup really sold that part and as a musician myself I really enjoyed his performance in that scene. Just a great movie with excellent performances all around.
