Philip S. Hoffman, Drugs, Future Portrale and Trivia

Trivia section says: Philip Seymour Hoffman's schedule only permitted him to be on set for four days. He had the flu the whole time.

I don't know what his sobriety record looked like, he claimed he was clean for years before the final relapse that killed him, but do you think perhaps he was in withdrawal for these 4 days he was supposedly ill on set? I mean, flu is so bad you can't get out of bed.. Proper Flu is serious.

And of course, it goes without saying, he foreshadowed his own death playing a character that ODs. Sad.. he was a great actor with a huge body of work that had such varied and interesting characters, he career was in full swing and the lapse took his life. Addiction is an illness, not a lack of willpower of moral character or a hedonistic pursuit.
