I'm going to say it and I don't care how much hate I get.

This is a very good movie. It's the third best in the series, part 1 and 2 obviously being better.

reply

I believe people watched it looking out for anything negative, and that is all they were able to see.

I also thought this movie was good. I even thought genisys was pretty good. I liked dark fate, although it went back exactly to the exact original formula.
Salvation was the only one I didn't like, but I should rewatch it sometime, maybe it was ok.

reply

I rewatched the entire franchise a few months ago and I think that Salvation is definitely better than T3. Neither of them are great, but I walked away feeling like Salvation deserved a little more credit than its gotten.

reply

T3 has the more memorable action scenes for me. I don't really remember much from the sequels afterward.

reply

Distant 3rd, but yeah.

reply

I'd say Salvation is third best. T3 is #4.

T3 is perhaps hated a little too much, but I'd disagree that it's a "very good movie." I'd say instead that it's an "okay" action movie. Maybe even "fairly good." But it feels rather generic and it doesn't feel anything like the first two films and way too much of it was shot during the day.

As a Terminator sequel, it doesn't really work. Judged on its own merits and forgetting that it's part of the Terminator franchise, it's all right but nothing more that.

reply

I feel that T3 has a nice flow and still felt like a Terminator film. There was also enough action sprinkled throughout. I thought Salvation was okay but it didn't feel like a Terminator movie. It might have been the colour scheme.

reply

I think the PG-13 and overall family-friendly tone of T3 really hurt it. The out-of-place humor in particular does it no favors at all.

Have you seen the Sgt. Candy scene? It got cut out of the film, granted, but the fact that it was filmed at all just shows the mental track the writer and director were on.

Here it is if you haven't seen it:

I also thought it didn't LOOK like a Terminator movie. Too many bright daytime scenes shot in areas that had foliage, grass, trees, etc. Terminator is supposed to be about cityscapes, often at night, and lots of whites, grays, blacks, silvers and blues.

reply

Cutting that scene was probably the best decision to cut something from a movie of all time.

reply

Actually T3 is rated R though only for language and because of the only graphic scene with the TX where she shoves her arm through that cop to drive the car. Outside of that I will agree most of the violence in it is PG-13.

reply

Damn, I guess you're right. It's the most PG-13 R-rated action movie of all time then.

reply

Actually it does show the T-X's boobs briefly at the beginning.

reply

The humor in T3, in my opinion, was way better than the humor in T2.

reply

No arguement here on this. I thing T3 is underappreciated and there are a few things I really like about it.

reply

While it has good action scenes T3 suffers imo from not making the T-X intimidating enough. Having the T-X act sexy instead of scary was dumb. That is the fault of the director though. Not the actress. The humor also brings it down.

reply

Terminator 2 had more comedy than the first film so I'm okay with the comedy in T3. Terminator 2 does have the Terminator walking out of a bar and stealing a guy's sunglasses while "Bad to the Bone" is playing in the background after all.

reply

Come on! Neither that or anything else in T2 compares to lines like, "Talk to the hand." and "My database does not encompass the dynamics of human pair bonding." Much less the part in T3 where he puts on dorky yellow sunglasses.

reply

TALK TO THE HAND IS THE LINE THAT STICKS IN MY MEMORY AS OUT OF PLACE.

reply

No, I mean in the context that T1 didn't have any comedy and T2 there were many humourous scenes. T3 just had more humour than part 2 did. If I'm okay with part 2 having more comedy than the original, I should be okay with T3 having more comedy than part 2.

reply

I don't think Part 2 had that many comedic parts. I'll grant you bad to the bone. I will maybe somewhat agree about the part where John teaches him expressions like, no problemo, eat me, dickwad, and Hasta Lavista, Baby might be a bit silly but certainly not anything that would make most people laugh out loud. I don't mind the scene from the extended version of T2 where he teaches the Terminator to smile cause it would make sense he would want him to learn to smile to be more human like and not robot like.

reply

The dorky glasses is the only example you gave that's a problem. The other examples are fine in the context of the film.

reply

I don't have a problem with it. Just that it's sillier than T2 is all.

reply

I don't know. All the silly banter the Terminator has with John Connor in T2 is cringe-worthy.

Maybe T3 has more humor, but it does it better, IMO.

reply

I don't think anything in T2 is cringeworthy.

reply

SECONDED.

reply

Pretty much any scene with Furlong in it sucks.

reply

Oh yeah. Well that's just your opinion. I don't think he was bad at all.

reply

Glad to know it's my opinion. I was worried it was being transmitted into my brain by Obama. Thanks for the clarification....

reply

However, I do love the part when Arnie yells, "RELAX!"

reply

i have to agree.....
given the latest films which equal horse poop, this one is a gem.

reply

I HAVE ENJOYED THEM ALL...MY ORDER...T2, T1, T:DF, T3, SALVATION, GENYSIS...BUT EVEN MY LEAST FAVORITE GENYSIS,I WOULD GIVE A SIX OR SO OUT OF TEN...I THINK THEYRE ALL ENTERTAINING FLICKS.🙂

reply

I wouldn't give any of them lower than a 6 either, but T3 gets too much hate.

reply

THE PROBLEM WITH T3 IS TWOFOLD...STAHL AND DANES...I LIKE BOTH ACTORS,BUT BOTH SEEMED OUT OF PLACE AND OFF TO ME THEN AND NOW...

reply

"Very good movie" is pushing it. It's only very good if compared to the sequels, and a massive disappointment when compared to the first 2 movies. As a stand alone movie it's just average.
