hated the original and found a fancut that saves it

man I disliked T3 so much for all the retarded humor. thankfully ive came across :Terminator 3: The Coming Storm fancut.
And boy, it makes the movie almost good lol.
Watch it if you want to see how T3 shouldve been in the first place.

I've never understood why the "retarded humor" got a pass in T2 but not T3. Is it because we grew up with T2 and love it for nostalgia?

reply

Most likely. Sheep follow sheep.

thank god youre a special snowflake, eh?

T2 was good overall... Terminator (1) being a near masterpiece... T2 had some goodwill and some rocking soundtrack :)

the humor in t2 is way more subtle than the in your face parody nonsense in t3. the worst of it got added with the extended cuts. besides there is a topic in darkfate that discusses this already.
but yeah i liked t2 more when i was a kid. now i find it silly often times. its still a masterpiece though
nevertheless. in t3 there isnt a single dialogue of the terminator that has some stupid humor in it. praise the fanedit.

I agree that T3's humor is alot more in-your-face, like the pink sunglasses and Arnold stealing his cloths from a gay bar or something. But the T2 scene where Arnold forces a smile made me cringe even as a kid. I remember watching it with a friend who had never seen it and I tried distracting him when that scene came up because I was so embarrassed by it.

The "talk to the hand" line would be right at home in T2.

I don't mind that smiling scene. I prefer the extended cut ever since I first watched it back in the early 2000s. I liked T3's humor though he was better in T2. I can understand people not liking it. Like when he says his database does not encompas the dynamics of human pair bonding.

reply

yeah the smiling scene is not in the theatrical cut. it got added way later. post t3 iirc

Humor is a good thing, and it isn't out of place in T3. I'd expect a Terminator to unwittingly do funny things because he's a fish out of water. Fish-out-of-water scenarios are not only a classic premise for comedy in works of fiction (Star Trek IV is a good example), but they tend to result in funny things happening in real life too.

People who complain about the humor in T3 take the Terminator movies too seriously. I can see someone complaining about that sort of humor had they injected it into T1 (which was the only really good movie of the franchise), because it's at odds with the dark, gritty atmosphere of that movie; plus Arnold was the villain in that movie, and having him making comical fish-out-of-water blunders would make him far less menacing. But T2 was a completely different style of movie, and T3 was done in about the same style as T2.
