How I would fix the franchise...

- Terminator 1: I would keep it exactly like it was. The first Terminator was perfect

- Terminator 2: I would only make minor changes and most of them deal with the ending (I would incorporate many elements from T-3's ending). First of all I would have Michael Biehn play the T-1000 which was their original plan, the role reversal I think would be a neat idea. I also would not make it obvious in the beginning that the T-800 was good, it wouldn't be until the fight at the mall that we realize that things are reversed from how they were in the first movie (Biehn is evil and Arnie is good). Other than that everything would be the same up until the attack on Cyber-Dyne. Dyson attempts to shut down Skynet's System Core but is shot by the police. Dyson's dying words to John and Sarah is "get to Crystal Peak", which they assume is the system core that they have to blow up. In the chase scene in the steal mill I would have Sarah die protecting John and then the T-800 comes in at the last second and kills the T-1000 much like what we really got, however the T-800 has sustained serious damage and its fuel cell is running low. The T-800 and John make it to Crystal Peak however it turns out that is not the system core it is a bomb shelter. Dyson saw on the computer that it was too late to stop Skynet from going online and he simply told them about a bomb shelter he knew of. The T-800's power supply runs empty and John is left there alone as the bombs drop.

- Terminator 3: This film would deal with John, Reese and other prisoners in camps after the war and how John teaches them to fight back against the machines and save humanity. It would be the EXACT future Reese had flashbacks to in the first movie. And in the end we have a big, climatic battle where the humans come together, put aside their differences and take back their lives. During this battle the T-800 is first unleashed. After the humans win the war in a desperate move Skynet sends a T-800 back in time to kill Sarah Conner and John sends Reese back to protect her, we then see a white light as the movie ends and restarts the chain of events.

Isn't your version of T3 what Salvation mostly was?

The good and the bad of this franchise is they don't really try to deal with the time travel paradoxes other than using them as excuses to break up continuity with the other films in the franchise.

An interesting twist in this Franchise would be a kind of Terminator 1.5 movie, taking place between T1 and T2, where a second T-800 gets sent back, and Sarah Connor with the help of Dyson manage to reprogram it to be the protector we see in T2.

It might also be an interesting twist to have a "good" T-800 get sent back to the future to help infiltrate SkyNet.

My vision of T3 would somewhat be like salvation but it would resolve all plot points and it would mostly deal with John having to inspire the resistance to fight the machines and how they defeat them, no wasting time with that Marcus character

This franchise is fucked beyond repair.....it can't be fixed at this point and here's why:

Passage of time: they waited way too long to make T3 and by 2003 Cameron and the original crew were way past it/moved on from it. The film industry was just a different world by the 21st century. Now it's 2019, Arnold is way too old for the franchise now(same with the other cast members) and the series just feels redundant....I mean does anybody really care about The Terminator anymore? It's just too late to restore this series, back in the 90's yes but not now. I think they just need to let it die.....T2 was the true finale.

Way too many failed attempts to reboot the series: T3 felt like a parody and totally shit on the lore of the first two and the series hasn't been the same since. Arnold wore Elton John glasses....yeah, it's fucked. T4 had a lousy script and felt like another Bayformers CGI fest....it just wasn't Terminator. It failed at the box office and nixed the plans of a MG/Bale trilogy, it even ruined a film company lol. T5 was a total plot holed filled mess trying to be Back to the Future and failing miserably, it has no rewatchability, Arnold was too awkward and I didn't care for the "aged terminator" horseshit. It felt like a bad fan fiction film that doesn't belong as cannon as do neither of the previous "sequels"....T2 is the only true sequel. It failed at the box office too and cancelled yet another planned trilogy LOL....what a fuckin' joke. As you can see they have totally destroyed the coolness and integrity of a once great franchise, now it feels like just another generic popcorn B movie series with horrible continuity and makes zero sense.....it's disgusting.

Terminator Dark Fate is going to suck too: I don't care if Hamilton and Cameron are back, Jim is not directing it once again and Linda isn't exactly that busy nowadays so of course she would come back....she needs a job. I don't think those two coming back guarantees jack shit, it's still going to

be a total mess judging by the plot and publicity photos. Something about it looks very off and I don't like the fact they're trying to mix social SJW politics with it....keep that shit out of my movies. James Cameron is not the same director or producer he was 25+ yrs ago, Avatar proves that. I seriously doubt this 6th film(LOL....can you say take 4?!) will bring Terminator back to it's former glory days, I just don't think it's possible at this point and the golden age of Terminator is long gone. Maybe a remake wiping the slate clean but not in the original cannon...it's done.

T3 fancut saves it for me and i acutally really like genisys. its the best they could make of the series (softreboot) and i found it really creative. I loved the interaction between the 3 and I always love timetravel paradoxons. goint to watch DF on friday, but wasnt impressed by the trailer. Seems just like another T2/T3

I've read some reviews of Dark Fate and they all pretty much indicate it's just a remake/reboot of T1 and T2..... sounds lame to me. Just another cash grab it seems, Hollywood is nothing but a cheap whore milking old dead franchises nowadays.... I wouldn't give them your money for T6. This is why this crap gets made because people keep giving them money to do it thus the cycle of garbage continues. They should've never made sequels after T2..... it wasn't needed lol.

i just like going to the cinema. and t6 seems to be the best choice. also one of the last movies with arnold, so. might boycott sw9 for those reasons though.
to balance it i also went in t2-3d ;)

The third installment should've been a longer "T2 3-D: Battle Across Time" (1996) and released in that exact year before Edward Furlong let himself go. Instead, they kept crapping out one bad sequel after another because they just can't seem to get it right.

But, I suppose if I had to choose which one I prefer post-"Terminator 2: Judgement Day" (1991), then it would have to be this film. Arnold was in his prime, the crane scene was awesome, and the ending blew me away.

A little off the subject..."Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (2008 - 2009) takes place after "Terminator 2: Judgement Day". I liked the premise behind the whole thing. Being a TV show let the story unfold a bit more, unlike trying to cram everything in 120 minutes.

arnold past his prime 20yrs earlier ;)

For me I wonder if the franchise should have ended with the cycle broken. The originals seem like a loop so I wonder if knowing about the terminator being sent back in time John Connor stops them thus breaking the loop.

The only issue is that this also causes an issue as John connor needs to send reese back in time to make sure he is born. It depends how you believe time works in the film. I belive that it is a loop and a change in the past would cause ripples but some think it would create different timelines.

Problem is reese would be no good going back in time without a terminator being sent. Sarah eventually believe him because of the proof but without a terminator it would be hard to persuade her and even then the future would have to change and so John connor would never become the leader he is because there would be no war
