What were their Special Abilites?

What were each characters special powers?

I caught this movie on TV one afternoon and really liked it; dry witty humor, able to poke fun at itself and the characters. But since then I have not seen it.

From memory, let's see:

Great Strobe: can shoot lightning out of his arms.
Mrs. Indestructible: has indestructible skin, is vulnerable in the eyes, and "is a complete bitch."
Minute Man: Can turn small
Deadly Girl: Can travel in the world of the dead
Mr. Smart: Super Smart
U.S. Bill: Super Strong
The Weevil: Has weevil-like powers (agility?)
Power Chick: Can convert her body to a substance she is touching
Alien Orphan: Can mutate into any shape
Amok: Atomic-power skin(?)
Night Bird: Has basic bird-like powers, can lay eggs.
Eight: Eight bodies one mind.

Not bad, huh? What else can I do with my life?

reply

Great Strobe: can shoot lightning out of his arms

Correction, it was lasers that he could shoot out of his arms. During the power show-off sequence during the end, it looks more like fire than a laser.

reply

Couple more corrections:

Amok can control anti-matter, not atomic energy.

Deadly Girl cannot only travel the world of the dead, she can summon creatures from the World of the Dead, such as walking skeletons. She can also enter the world of the dead and re-enter anywhere else. She is the most powerful member of the Specials.

And SPOILER...

Nightbird's eggs each have a trick inside.

The late, great Specials web site was as hilarious as the movie. Unfortunately, it now seems to be gone for good.

reply

Interesting. The same may said of this movie.

Awesome.

Are you sure about Minuteman? I thought he had some kind of musket power...

Speaking as an RPG gamer, I think I can help. It's been a while since I watched this movie, & if I remember correctly, we don't see all their powers until the very end.

"Great" Strobe: Shoots lasers from his hands (Energy Projection-Light/Lasers)
Mrs. Indestructible: Invulnerability (except near or around eyes)
Amok: Anti-Matter bolts (Energy Projection-"Anti-Matter")
Mr. Smart: Hyper-Inventions, Extraordinary IQ (think Mr. Fantastic without the stretching)
Minute-Man: Shrinking (self) to 6 in.
Alien Orphan: Shape-shifting/alien forms (dragon-like alien shown)
Power Chick: Material Absorption (see Marvel's Absorbing Man)
US Bill: Extraordinary Strength (greater than normal/Olympic level)
Nightbird; Communicates with Birds, lays eggs w/ random 'surprise' inside
The Weevil: "Weevil powers" (agility, burrowing?)
Deadly Girl: Summon & Command the Undead (ghosts & zombies?), teleport/travel to & from the Underworld (Dimensional Jump)
Eight: Gestalt Mind (8 separate bodies, 1 psi-consciousness networked), Range unlimited (3 'members' were on vacation in the tropics)
Zippy Lad(?): Flash-like Super-Speed

Mentioned, but no powers shown;
Stretchy-Boy: Stretching (ala Mr. Fantastic), deceased

What does being a gamer have to do with anything?

reply

It really doesn't, deaddest, I was just making my POV known. Sometimes an RPG gamer has a different view than a comic book reader (of which I am both) or sci-fi reader, or whatever.

"I know I'm going to hell; I'm bringing marshmellows."

Zippy Lad(?): Flash-like Super-Speed

It's Zip Boy (or was...way back when).

Technically, wasn't Weevil's ex-wife part of the group? I don't recall what her name was other than people kept calling to get nude photos of her in the beginning.

reply

Valiant Lass, I dont know what her power was, or that she was Weevils ex-wife, but she did have a vestigial penis!
