Jay and Silent Bob

Come on... they must have been based on these guys! They just must have been!

Just watched it last night, and the only thing i think you're bringing jay and silent bob as a comparison to mark and mike is because Mike (the acid brain eaten friend of Mark) looks similar to Kevin smith as Silent Bob...that and personally I think Mike schank looks like the way Vinnie Paul Abbot did in the 80's when he was drumming for metal band Pantera.

Absolutely love Uncle Bill in this movie, true depiction of death decay aging and depression. haha great stuff.

What on Earth are you talking about?

Mike looks a bit like Kevin Smith, but that's about the only connection I can think of. Mark acts nothing like Jay (other than cursing a lot, but so do most Americans). They don't act the same at all.

Not to mention Jay and Silent Bob have been around since 1994, 5 years before this film was released.

John 1:46 - man, that's what I call irony.

I see it. We're watching this now and my wife says "You know who they look like?" and I immediately knew that's why Jay and Silent Bob were on the page of threads here.

Mark doesn't necessarily act like Jay, but seeing these all these stoners, especially the scenes with the two paired and Mike there looking glazed in a daze, and Mark with his delusional schemes and dreams - it's real easy to see the comparison.

Does anyone else think Napolean Dynamite owes this film a lot??

No actually i see the similarity too, i mean the fact that theyre friends one talkative and the other more subdued does remind me of jay & silent bob, that and they kind of look similar.
So its definitely a valid observation.

Jay and Silent Bob are fictional characters. Mike and Mark aren't.

I think everybody knows that, youre missing the point entirely. You can see similarities between real and fictional characters, it is possible.

You talkin' to me, defanim? I'm not missing any point. My response was to the original poster who stated this:

"Come on... they must have been based on these guys! They just must have been!"
You don't need to point out to me that there can be similarities between real people and fictional characters. I'm aware of that. In this case, the original poster's choice of words seemed to imply that Mark and Mike are fictional dudes who were BASED on or modeled after Jay and Silent Bob. He seems to think they're made-up characters or he would have worded his post differently, perhaps with "These guys reminded me of Jay and Silent Bob" or "These guys are very similar to Jay and Silent Bob". I would have completely agreed with that observation IF it were worded as such.
I think everybody knows that
Obviously not...just read some of these posts. Plenty of people are convinced this a fictional "mockumentary". So my reply was in rebuttal to that.

Point taken, but you should realize that i read every post on the subject so im up to speed, that way i dont repeat myself.
You get the gist of what im trying to say.
