Which 2 OLD Earth cities would YOU have set a Thundarr adventure in

they can NOT be places already used, I would have set a adventures in the "Old Earth" cities of Dallas and Honolulu

reply

I can't remember what cities they did or didn't visit, so I'm not qualified to give an answer. But what I would like to know, syonack, is how they would have got to Honolulu? I'm not trying to be a smartass here, just want to know if it was ever shown, or mentioned, in the series about the drift of islands or such? Also, I thought they did visit Dallas. Perhaps it was Houstan instead?

reply

No that's a legtiment questioin but one I'm aslo unable to answer and as far as Texas goes the ONLY city they were in at least Identified was San Antiono

reply

Aw... you are correct sir! I forgot about the episode with the Alamo.

In an episode entitled, "Island of the body snatchers" they visited England; I think they simply crafted a makeshift boat, maybe using Ariel's sorcery, and went across the Atlantic. What is interesting to note is that Thundarr could "see" across the ocean to the island in question, so maybe the geography had drastically changed and the city of London had broken free from the main island of England (?) I would have loved to see them go further into Europe especially to Paris, France!

reply

I always wanted them to do Mexico. If only for the validation that hundreds of years in the future it'll still be a ghetto.

reply

In this show, pretty much every place is a ghetto.

Dubai! Considering all the amazing buildings being built, as well as island communities; think it would be awesome to show that city in ruins!

Shanghai! Considering the size of the place and that it contiunues to grow!

As much as I love NYC, NYC in ruins has been played out i.e. Escape from New York, I am Legend, and let us not forget Planet of the Apes.

reply

Some wizard's flying machine can take them to any city you please.

I rather like Honolulu (mainly because I've always wanted to visit), but I don't think it would have survived the Event (you can't write about such a thing without a capital letter, it just wouldn't be right). I mean I don't think there would even be ruins left.

Dubai would be FANTASTIC! Only, what was it like in 1994? Did it get really cool before about 2000?

Tokyo might be interesting. Some wizard could be trying to create a real Godzilla!

Paris, London, New York, Munich...

I'm not sure where I'd pick. I'm kind of thinking that they should remain in the US, for continuity's sake, but they already broke that by traveling to Europe. It seems kinda odd that they randomly travel on horse back and wound up across the sea for one episode. Perhaps I'd place my two picks outside of the US so that the London episode didn't seem so out of place. I'd say Paris and Rome. I'd like to see what they'd do to the Eiffel Tower and I think it would be great to see a duel against a wizard inside of the Roman Colosseum.

reply

Although Dubai was a desert in 1994, I think if they brought the film to the big screen they would have to adjust the 1994 to 2023ish, thus allowing for the Dubai of today to possibly be an "old world city."

How about Disneyworld?

Austrailia. It would've been cool to see Thundarr having it out with a pack of giant, mutant koalas!

Alaska: Who knows what it would look like after the apocalypse?

reply

Also, Kansas. Picture mutated farm life roaming the area. Plus as an added bonus, it would be funny to see how the decendants of Fred Phelps wouldve turned out! Imagine a post apocalyptic town over run with psuedo religious fundamentalism. The twist could be that the residents worship a statue of Fred, and every wanderer that comes into town gets sacrificed to the statue. The very twist ending could be that the leader of the group is exposed as a fraud (much like Mr. Phelps in real life), and the whole town turns against each other, causing it to collapse under its own weight.

The Kansas Fred Cult leader MUST be gay!

Alaska... The descendants of the Inuit (Eskimo) have adapted the remnants of oilfield equipment for their own use, and thus they build ice fortresses to protect themselves from the polar bear people. These mutants are huge, resistant to the cold, and great swimmers. They are the equal of Moks in size and strength, but slightly less intelligent.

As for 'Strailia, there would have to be some carnivorous kangaroos in there somewhere. They actually existed a few million years ago, so I suppose chemicals and radiation and the haze of magic could have re-evolved another one.

Accualy now that Im thinking about it, the decendants of the WBC, cataclysm or not, will probably end up like the hill people in The Hills Have Eyes.

Bear people? That sounds awesome.

Carnivorous Kangaroos? That sounds real awesome too.

reply

I'd pick Nassau, The Bahamas, and Cairo, Egypt--the former because I'm moving thre early next year and the latter because it would be cool to see Thundarr among the pyramids.

reply

Maine.... It would be cool to see a herd of angry mutated moose. The ep could pretty much play like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in which a cannibalistic family lives in the wooded areas, hunting down Thundarr and his allies. The final battle could take place between Thundarr and Ookla taking on the brute henchman, armed with power tools. Ariel would meanwhile, free any other still living prisonors in the family's domain.

South Africa.... Since the cataclysm, alot of the survivors were mostly tribes that worked just fine before it. Only differance is the a wizard controls all the rtribes with an iron fist. The wizard, accompanied by tiger mutants, have enslaved all the villages. Ookla, being a Mok (a half man/half lion, would takes them on while Ariel and Thundarr take down the wizard.
