didn't like it

I am a big mike nichols fan and really really hated this film. It was worse than WOLF!! however I think nichols will be on my goodside again after "closer" (see the trailer at http://www.budweiser.com/1) this movie looks great!

I know this is an old post, but Planet was pretty good. Very funny and had a great cast that was well utilized. Much better than Closer, which was real crap, ie 4 bad performances + crazily unrealistic script = s hitty movie.
Almpst anything with Garry Shandling = worth watching.

reply

Well, I on the other hand thiught that everything else in this movie was good EXCEPT Shandling! I've liked his other work, but in this flick he was jusy annoying. Made real stupid faces all the time...

nice little pussy...

True, someone other than Shandling probably would have made this movie into a big hit, but still it was very funny.

I was amazed to see the low ratings it got on votes. Very few movies have made me laugh as much as this one!

Plus, it's got some great actors in good roles -- Ben Kingsley, John Goodman, Greg Kinnear (perfect as a wise-cracker jerk), Annette Bening -- who played her role in an absolutely adorable manner.

Gary was good, though. His dry humor worked perfectly for this role.

reply

Benning really portrayed and Earth woman in a good way, considering
this movie, she was adoreable, true!

reply

hahahaha ... he was playing an alien ... that is like criticising
him because his penis whirred in this movie. i can see not liking
it ... i have my reservations about this movie ... but i thought
parts of it were kind of cute and funny ... not outrageously, but
in a dry way ... and they tried to mix the dry humor with slapstick,
which was not too successful. All in all I liked it though I did
not rate it very high. I did like Annette Benning, she is the bomb.

I love most of Nichols work too but I have to admit, I totally prefer WPAYF over Closer which felt like a complete mess to me (mostly because of the casting...).

Went on a little too long...otherwise funny stuff. Greg Kinnears wife was a plus too, haven't seen her since the Last Seduction. Linda hard to spell Italian last name. That dress was magnificent.

Looks Like Squeeth is overdue for (another) banning. Bug spray the pest.
Of course (s)he will agree with me when replying to the next post.
uh huh. uh huh. uh huh.

Anyway, This movie is a perfect example of how box office performance doesnt
always indicate how good (or bad) a movie is.

That was a good point about the high cost for a comedy. Can anyone say
Evan Almighty?

What is wrong with you Squeeth? You've been coming onto this thread for TEN years just to post, "Uh-huh"! Are you mental? Your first Uh-huh post was in '05 and your most recent one was this year, '15. That's 10 years of random, pointless, stupid "Uh-huh" posts! You're killing your cats every time you do it, it would seem, since your list of deceased cats keeps growing every time you post. Just no more Uh-huh's, ok? Thanks.

This Paint By Numbers life is *beep* with my head once again.
