Hugh Jackman, Sean Bean, Christian Bale

Who are your favorites for playing Snake?

reply

I still think David Hayter should do it but I guess I'd go with Jackman. Also, that would be kind of an interesting if he ended up taking the role that was originally played by the writer of X-Men. As for Old Snake (or Ocelot), I think they should get Sam Elliot. The only thing that worries me is who's gonna play Raiden.

Gotta be Hayter for the voice, but i rekon Bale would make an excellent snake. Sean Connery for Ocelot or maybe someone less mainstream.

DAVD HAYTER!

Got to be David Hayter. I don't think i could take it serious without his voice. Could dub over another actor but doubt it would work

the guy that plays jackson in stargate or the guy in the wheelchair from dark angel..the atmosphere from dark angel reminds me ALOT of the atmospehere of the mgs series...if i were to pick from the 2 it would be the guy in the wheelchair in dark angel

Michael Shanks form SG-1? Love him to death, not sure how well he'd work here. Joe Flanigan, however, who plays Sheppard on Stargate Atlantis kind of has a similar look to Snake. I'll have to check out the second actor you mentioned.

This might be a little oddball in the castingdepartment, but Ocelot reminds me ALOT of Richard Dreyfuss.

He wouldn't be all bad. A number of the cast suggestions so far (though they have been good) such as Jackman and Bale, just don't have teh right eye color! Weatherly has the right eyes and facial shape. Not sure if he could pull the "badassness" off though.

none of the above - either David Hayter plays Snake or nobody plays him. Its not so much the fact that the aforementioned trio are not top-notch actors as it is that, quite simply, David Hayter IS Solid Snake. Casting anyone else would be tarnishing the authenticity of the character. Let Hayter pump some iron to add a few pounds of muscle and he's good to go.

No Solid Snake, no Metal Gear. End of story.

For Snake: Hugh Jackman or Chris Evans. (Depends what kind of fantasy casting session we're holding here.)

For Ocelot: Mark Rylance. No question whatsoever.

Hayter actually already does look quite a bit like Snake. He would just have to get fit for the role, which wouldn't be an issue at his age and with Hollywood trainers. Anyone else, no matter how good would get severe critisism from the fan base of the franchise. If they went through with the film, and everyone knew Hayter was casted for the role of Snake, ticket sales would already a done deal. The question then becomes can Hayter do a believable British accent to double the role for Liquid?

Ocelot is another key piece, and whom they cast is just as important, but has a little more flexibility.

Christian Bale's my favorite for the role.

Also, just to point out, Sean Bean is 53, and the character of Solid Snake was 33 (born in 1972) in Metal Gear Solid (takes place in 2005). Bale's 38, but I'm sure they could make him look five years younger, as opposed to the 20 years they'd need to take off Sean Bean to make him look the right age for the role.
