Question.

Who had the reccessive genes of Big Boss? Solid Snake or Liquid Snake? If Solid Snake had the reccessive genes of Big Boss, then why does Solid Snake look exactly (well not exactly but very close) like Big Boss?

reply

During Ocelot's conversation after the credits, it's said that Liquid had Big Boss' dominant genes, but that he never knew this.

And, if you take a close look, Liquid DOES look similar to BB as well, except with blonde hair. Well, perhaps not all of the old man's dominant genes went to him.

"As far back as I could remember, I've always wanted to be a gangster..."

Thank you.

Your welcome.

Actually, snake had dominate genes, and liquid had recessive genes, which is probably why he had blond hair. However liquid had the Superior genes but all his life he thought he had the inferior genes.

So, Snake had the dominate and inferior genes, and Liquid had the recessive and Superior genes. I hope that clears things up.

The exact words of Ocelot at the end were:
"The inferior one was the winner after all." and "Until the very end, Liquid thought he was the inferior one."

The reason people are arguing about this, is because he doesn't specifically mention genes. Whether dominant or recessive. And as far as genes go, dominant doesn't automatically mean superior and recessive doesn't automatically mean inferior.

It's my opinion though that Kojima actually *did* mean it that way (that Liquid has been lied to about those genes), because Ocelot goes on to mention "it takes a well-balanced individual such as yourself" while talking to Solidus Snake, the third clone.

Thus we have three clones: one inferior, one superior and one well-balanced. There's not much room for debate here. We know that Solidus is a perfect copy and has all of Big Boss' genes, that's exactly what "well-balanced" is referring to. It's hard to imagine that "inferior" refers to anything else.

I'd say the script writers screwed up, all they had to do was throw in a short line about those genes to clear up any confusion.

Snake had blond hair also. If you watch the Briefing videos on the in-game menu, at the very end, Snake decides to cut and die his hair to distance himself from the terrorists' leader. However, this may or may not be exactly canon.

reply

In my opinion as well as with the games evidence, Solid Snake did have the recessive genes. Because in the end, we see that Solid Snake did age very rapidly and perhaps Liquid Snake would not have aged so badly in the end had he been given the chance to stay alive....Damn Fox Die lol

...Just a thought!

I have another question. I recently started playing this again, and I wanted to know how many different endings are there, and where can you read what is on Metal Gear's disk, if possible?
