Use a FAMAS as their standard rifle? That's a French rifle. Seems odd that US special forces would use a French rifle. The M4 or M16 seem like a better choice.

Also, anyone know why the FAMAS never appeared in another Metal Gear Solid game? There's footage in MGS2 of what I assume is alpha gameplay where Snake is using the FAMAS

IIRC, Gurlukovich supplied most of the weapons that the Genome soldiers used including the Hind chopper. So that may explain where they got the FAMAS from...but then again, where did a Russian GRU colonel get French rifles? I know it doesn't make much sense, but we're probably not supposed to think too much into it.
