Great game.....gets too much credit though..

When Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake invented most of the things this game was renowned for:

*Running up a spiral of stairs with guards chasing you
*Warming and cooling a key and having t obacktrack in the process
*Getting a call from a guy claiming to be "One of your fans"
*A fist fight
*A fight with a Hind D
*Knocking on walls to lure guards
*Meeting up with a woman dressed like a soldier in the ladies bathroom
*Frozen rations
*Escaping with a woman at the end
*Crawling through a vent to enter the main building
*4 guards attacking you in a elevator

MGS is great game, but Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is better.

One of the reasons why they reused alot of that stuff was because the new capabilities they had with playstation made the game play alot better. You really can't denie that gameplay from a 2d game made in 1990 is a far cry from the kind of gameplay you can have now. Mind you the metal gear games were no doubt better than most 2d games at the time and metal gear 2 was a head of its time as far as video game plots were concerned but metal gear solid was able to enhance the gaming experience from what it was in those old games.

That's true to an extent actually. I guess Kojima wanted to make a more action-oriented game, but wasn't able to due to the constraints of the platform. Stealth was easier

Metal Gear Solid V ended up being a disappointment .

Yeah, I hear what you're saying...but MG2 is the "forgotten" game in the series, mainly because it was only released in Japan until 2006. It's more innovative than MGS but MGS is given the credit as being the first true stealth game when that really isn't the case.

Man MGS is legendary. Ive had all consoles from atari up till 360. This is still the best game I ever played. Can you name another game that you wanted to play from beginning till end for at least 20 times???

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Bioshock
Super Mario World
Super Mario Galaxy

I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's awesome, but it's just not as good as Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

For it's time MG2 was a better game.

MGS just ripped off a lot of its gameplay elements and put them in 3D (which isn't a bad thing). The ideas, the concepts were originally founded in MG2.

MG2 gets less credit because only like 15 people played it before MGS existed. And 14 of those people were Japanese.
