If you love this film, I hope you have seen Snatch
I think Thomas Anders Jensen, the screenwriter of this film, is a genius, with a sense of humor very simpatico with mine. Of his screenplays that I have been lucky enough to see as films, my fav is probably Adam's Apple, which is both serious and spiritual but also funny, and then Flickering Lights. As I watched In China... for a second time tonight, I loved it all over again, and I did keep thinking back to Guy Ritchie's Snatch and Lock, Stock, and various Coen Bros films, and maybe to a lesser extent, Tropic Thunder. I think of Snatch and In China...as violent films, where the violence is against people you mostly don't care about, in a tone of dry and slap stick humor, where the main protagonist often has a heart of gold , and Love (brotherly, familial, etc)is at the core of everything. As not many films, particularly the violent ones, have this sense of humor, I wonder if Jensen and Ritchie and Coen Bros. are friends and/or admirers of each others work?
