does anyone have any idea as to where this movie can be foundshare
The only way to buy the DVD in the US is to purchase "The Mondo Cane Collection" from Blue Underground. I found it at Tower Records in Atlanta for around $160.00 (it's eight discs). I doubt the more family friendly stores would carry it, but try Media Play or Suncoast as well.share
The Mondo Cane Collection has now been spilt into two parts under the title Shockumentries Vol. #1 and #2. for about $19.99 each. Each containing 3 films of the Mondo Boxset I believe Addio Zio Tom,Mondo Cane and Women of the World are in #2.Its available at Virgin Megastores in the cult section of the video department. The print is clear and the sound very good the discs are all slim case packed in an nice slipcase.share
Netflix has this movie. Just remember if you get it on Netflix to choose Addio Zio Tom NOT the censored Goodbye Uncle Tom English version!
If I had a nickel for every cigarette your mom smoked, I'd be dead.
The English "Goodbye Uncle Tom" is NOT a CENSORED version -- if anything it's more offensive than the so-called "Director's Cut." It's also shorter and you don't need to read subtitles. Nearly everything that is unique to this production is contained in the English language "Goodbye Uncle Tom." The faux "Director's Cut" is padded with contemporary documentary footage of African Americans marching or partying, and as far as I can tell it never played anywhere in the world, outside the Mondo Cane Collection box set. This "Director's Cut" is a hodgepodge of staged outrageousness (the historical re-enactments of slave & plantation life that constitute the bulk of the film) and "serious" documentary footage of the United States in the late 1960s. It also is MISSING several scenes of staged outrageousness that you will find in the English language version. (On the other hand, the "Director's Cut" includes a scene about a decadent Southern belle who collects slaves for sensual & sadistic pleasures, which you won't find in the English language version.)share
