Would this movie have been better if the slaves were white?

I'm thinking a lot of the complaints about this movie are because the actors and actresses who played the slaves were black, and this causes the movie to be considered vile. However, if the black and white roles were reversed would this still be the case? I know I would have felt a lot more comfortable, and enjoyed the movie more if they had been reversed.

You again? Lol. I see you realized the absurdity of the posts where you suggested i must be obsessed with peeing infants and proceeded to withdraw your comments. When two people are engaged in discussion and one all of a sudden resorts to accusing the other of being obseesed with the topic of said discussion it becomes clear they have nothing else to say.

Nevermind comments you took back, though, lets move on to this one. You think people dislike this movie because of the casting of black actors in the roles of the slaves? You think that's why people think it's vile? You think people who dislike this movie would prefer white actors in blackface? You clearly haven't the foggiest of an idea what offends people about this movie. I thought those of us who are difficult to offend were at least aware of what might offend those more sensitive.

You're basically right, my contention is that people dislike this movie because they perceive it as being racist, exploitative, lurid, trash. My contention with this post is that that many people wouldn't have such a problem with the movie if the imaginary racism of the movie makers were removed.

My view is that the film more or less accurately depicts slavery in the antebellum south. It was ugly, racist and exploitative, and I think it is good for people to see it as it was, rather than using their imagination which tends to blunt the harsher edges. I think when people see this movie they should be offended, not at the movie, but at the institution of slavery which lies at the heart of the history of the US.
