What a shame. Such a great story and nary a word to expoud on its beauty. When one often asks for a good period drama, "North and South" is always touted as a must -see. But this little gem should be a the top of anyone's list when it comes to period drama and romance. Great movie. And James Larkin is SUHC.A.HUNK!!!! Woohoooo!!!

Kind of surprised about that too. This was a great movie. Watch it at least once every year. It's a classic and as someone who was born in Britain of Caribbean parents, it was really interesting to see how a Black woman lived in post-WWII Britain.
I would put this in the same category as Belle, which is another movie about a mixed race Black woman in early Britain.
