I'll grant you that the narration is pretentious to a ridiculous extent and they lay on the patriotism with a jingoistic trowel. But the tableaux are increasingly unnerving, with the last few segueing into straight-up horror. They must have been even scarier when the short came out (just as Cold War era horror was most frightening when the threat of nuclear annihilation was real and ever-present) and the fears they represented were quite real to those watching. Worse, those weren't just fears in the countries referenced. Those things were really happening. And this short probably came out even before people in the U.S. were generally aware of the Nazi death camps.
