How can this film be so underrated?

I find quite strange that this film has such a low rate. I think it's really original, with a superb acting, mixing drama and social criticism with humour and love... It remembered me of the magic realism South American writers like Rulfo or García Marquez exploited in their books fifty and fourty years ago. It was a real surprise when I stayed one sleepless night watching the TV and I got to see this marvellous film.
Does anybody else think like me?

I also liked it.
I also stumbled upon it while watching TV one night. It usually does happen so (in my case, anyway), that best films are not expected on purpose, but, rather, seen by chance.
I loved this one. Really advisable piece of art. Acting is superb here!

I also liked this movie. I highly reccomend watching it in a double feature along with Secondhand Lions...makes for a wonderful mini-film fest.

The world belongs to the meat eaters, Miss Clara, and if you have to take it raw, take it raw.

I sooooo agree....I never heard of it. I actually bought it by accident. I typed in "horror" at walmart.com and it came up. Bought it and was like, "horror??" lol. Damn good movie.

I'll give him 20 more minutes-and that's it!- Airplane!

What a great movie! Quirky and original-- yet with characters worth rooting for.

I discovered this while browsing the free movie section of Comcast On Demand, and Martin Sheen's name caught my eye.

I'm recommending this to my friends.

It's a terrific movie. I saw it way back when it was made at a special screening in L.A. well before it was ever released anywhere (my old boss knew the director, I was working in the film industry at the time). Anyway, it was pretty terrific, I thought and still do (I now own it on DVD and have shown it to several friends who all thoroughly enjoyed it, too).

A weird thing, back when I saw this I did a review of it here on IMDb but it seems to be gone. Dunno what happened. Didn't know IMDb erased reviews.
