Kurt Russell got $20 million for Soldier and he hardly had any dialogue and that was a bigger turkey.
The film studio paid Eddie what they thought he was worth at the time. I doubt he was going to say no to that amount.

shareThe thing is, the movie industry is a bit like how part of the Stock Market is. It's just rich people giving other rich people money. Or otherwise just collecting money. Look at Facebook. People invest in it, and the only money it brings in is from advertisting. I'm not saying Eddie Murphy shouldn't get paid a lot, but he's been given a lot of money for movies that didn't seem like a great idea to begin with.
