Did they not advetise it enough or something? Edddie Murphy was already way past his prime when it comes to entertaining people?
shareI know the old saying "dont judge before you have seen the movie". But i think this is one of those movies which you can kinda tell its gonna suck before you have seen it.
I mean ok it wasnt the worst movie ever, but for 100 mil i suppose it cant be can it.
It was shelved for two years before its release and had little publicity. It had a few commercials about a week before it was released. Eddie Murphy didn't even do publicity/interviews for the film. It' not a good/great film, but Eddie Murphy has worse films in his resume.

I found it later in the discount bin of a Blockbuster and grabbed it purely because it was Eddie Murphy. I don't regret it and its now one of my regular guilty pleasures. I know it's not great but I still enjoy it for what it is.
I don't know why it flopped so hard but I do know it wasn't advertised enough (at least where I was) for me to even have a chance to support it at release.
One of the trivia entries states that Eddie Murphy refused to do PR for the movie and (supposedly) he stated that he just did the movie for the money. If that's true, I think he a jackass. Wouldn't you have some faith in a movie that you're about to star in?
I think Pluto Nash is as good, if not better than Haunted Manson. Now, that movie was stupid! Especially with Jennifer Tilly as a disembodied floating head-in-a-crystal-ball!
I believe _The Adventures of Pluto Nash_ is as good as most of the crap put out these days as "a movie". It had some good action/chases. It had a good attempt at sci-fi without getting technical.
OK, It's no _Blade Runner_ (1982) or _The Andromeda Strain_ (1971)... but it's a decent, family friendly (minus some innuendo) movie...
