*spoiler* the Ending ...

I am very unlucky with this movie & book , though I loved both ..I had the book & read it it but it was lost before I knew the ending ! ..I tried to watch this movie on line ( as it 's not on DVD in my country ...) and the only link I could get is one with Russian "spoken" sub-titles ..I could live with that but to add insult to injury I didn't know the ending !!! the last 15 mins were missing ...So she was on her way to save him from his death ..Did she succeed ? ..Some reviewers here say it was a different ending from thebook & she chose her family ..Some help please ...:\
