Three Questions

1) How did Oleg not run out of tape? He was taping practically the whole time.

2) How come no one seemed to mind being taped? Especially Kelsey Grammer's character. Didn't he realize that footage could ruin him if it was brought out to the public?

3) What type of news program would show footage of someone's murder?

reply

1) Well he stole a camera from a shop, maybe it was a good camera with alot of tape. Or we just dont see the switches: he has two tapes you see at the end when he shows the newsguy the tape of emile's plan to fool the police.

2) Tourists tape people all the time and aren't told to stop, he could be seen as a tourist.

3) Probably all. If they [news programs] are as filmakers portray them to be, they will do anything to make themselves famous and rich.

Just my guesses to the answers.

In a media studies class I took we discussed how one of those sensationalistic afternoon shows did something just like this. They used most of the show building it up, prefacing every commercial break with "coming up"s, before finally promising the footage in the next segment. When they came back the host talked about how people were damning them for airing it, how it was exploitive and tasteless. Then they admitted they didn't (have?/intend to show?) the tape, but turned it on the audience with "but YOU didn't turn us off. YOU didn't change the channel". I'd wager that stunt was what inspired this movie.

What show it was I can't remember for certain, but I want to say Montel Williams.
