In today's wrestling world where we have tons of internet sites, shoot interviews and "smart marks," there's just no way this could be a work. It would have been exposed by now. There are a lot of interviews with wrestlers and bookers talking about the Montreal Screwjob. Everyone talks about it like it was real.

Vinny Mac was just brilliant in how he twisted the scenario to make it profitable and possibly Kayfabe. To quote (loosely) The Usual Suspects, "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing everyone he didn't exist." I know that quote doesn't fit perfectly with what I'm saying, but you get the point.

As real as real.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

I have read/heard recently that Bret and McMahon and Michaels were in on it, along with the ref.
Don't know how true that was, but supposedly it was a kayfabe moment against the Smarks because it was already public that Bret was leaving for WCW.

It wasn't true at all. Just baseless speculation. WWF didn't care about smarks in the late 90s. Smarks knew Hall and Nash were leaving too. Didn't matter to Vince.

There is absolutely no evidence it was a work.

Let's be bad guys.
