Bret's Canada lie

In the movie Bret repeatedly argues that he was ready to drop the belt but not in Canada. Practically that would have meant that he wouldn't drop the title before Nov. 24th which would have been the first show after SS outside of Canada. However that also would have been only one week away from Bret officially leaving the WWE for WCW - a situation that would have been unacceptable for anyone in Vince McMahon's position as it would have left Eric Bischoff and co. plenty of time to promote the purchase of the chief competitor's - still reigning! - world champion.
Today we all know the real reason why Bret refused to lose at SS97 and thereby we also know that Bret broke his biggest promise: that he would never lie to his fans!
