Question about Hannah's uncle

What does Hannah's uncle mean when he says?
"It was in the book. The arithmetic, the numbers. You add, you subtract and there are no more Jews."

What book is he talking about?

reply

I am not sure of that part of the movie, but the Germans were meticulous record keepers. The book that was referred to might have been the records books for the Camps.

I thinkkkk though that it was referring to the Book of the Dead. . . .

reply

This is Eqyptian, and as the Jews were slaves in egypt I don't think so.

The book is seen at the end when the girls will be seperated. It is the book that keeps tabs on incoming and dead Jews.

reply

In the book it explains you never say dead or corpse in the camp, because 'killed' is 'Chosen', cremated is 'Processed', etc., they kept excellent records but they never let the records show they killed Jews because anything they didn't admit to was the easier to deny, but they kept the records of how many came in and how many were gotten rid of, with them constantly 'Choosing' Jews, the numbers kept going down, hence you subtract until there are none left, that was the goal, to have no Jews left in the world.
