Did Clayton's parents not care that he disappeared?

This part at the end of the movie seriously cracks me up. I doubt it was intended. It was pointed out though that Clayton disappeared, with the camera showing a close-up of all the others sitting down, and Clayton's name on an empty chair, Mary seeing him run off with Dolph, and one extra trophy left when Graham takes hers. Do his parents seriously not care where he disappeared to, or just didn't show up to the graduation at all? Hahahaha.

Forgive me for not leaping for joy, bad back, you know.

"Did Clayton's parents not care that he disappeared?" Okay let's think about this... They sent him to a camp to make him straight... Do these people sound like people who would want there child back if he didn't graduate and pretend to be straight as they wished. They probably went on about their lives like he was dead.
