Very confused by the censorship thing...

I'm thinking about picking up Lexx on DVD. I remember seeing bits and pieces of it years ago, but never watched it.

Now i'm hearing that the DVD's are possibly edited? I have a few links to the box sets I was thinking of getting and I was wondering if these are edited or are the complete versions...
Please don't tell me about episode specific cuts, because having never seeing the show, I won't have a clue what you are talking about.
All I'm looking to know is do they cut out nudity, story content, scenes that are in one version but not in another? I'm trying to get the most complete version of the series possible...thank you in advance. Here are the links..

I don't think there was any nudity in it, as it was (mostly) a scifi channel series. The first series was showtime, but from what i've watched of it, there doesn't seem to be any direct nudity, or anything cut out at all. I mean, they pulled out people's brains.

But you can watch it all on netflix, which is a lot cheaper than buying a box set of something you've never seen. Just sayin'.

No other offense has ever been visited with such severe penalties as seeking to help the oppressed.

I just watched ''Gametown' and'Boomtown' S3:03,S3:04 and there was peanty of female nudity !!!
Kai was in the showers with Bunny getting all hot and steamy; and Stan was getting his for sure!

I have heard its only the shower scene in the first series thats edited down. All the other nudity in the show in still in.

I have been wondering the question myself. As there is a new region 2 DVD complete set about to be released at the end of March.

I'm sorry.... I feel like an idiot here. Is Region 2 the U.S.? Because if its being re-released...maybe i'll wait for that and see if its more complete....
So your telling me that other than the first season (The movies), the TV show has no edits in it and is the same as the version that was shown in the original version? (For the life of me I can't remember the original country it was made and shown in..)

Blondsavage, is the set released by Acorn have the same content as the ones I linked to above? Meaning, are the sets that I linked to ALSO uncut and uncensored? Or is this Acorn set the only ones that are uncut and uncensored at this point?

Let me ask this another way?
Is all the nudity AND story in the above links I provided?
I understand the cut "shower scene" or whatever in the first season. Is there anything cut from any of the other seasons? Or is it the original uncut and uncensored versions?
From what I heard the first season set is a little choppy with its edits. Fine. I can deal with that, but I need to know about the other four seasons. If the links I gave are edited down versions, then I don't want them. But if they are complete, uncut and uncensored, then I may get them.
I'll just deal with the edits on season 1 because I don't have 200 dollars to shell out for each of the 4 movies...

I have seen many different dvd issues. What I know all the dvd sets are complete EXCEPT for the 3 seconds long shower scene in S1 where you can see Zev naked body. All other nudity is complete. The reason this is cut is prob. becouse they simple dont have acess to the scene anymore.

If you after all want this scene for some reason, go and buy the japanese LD-box for season 1. wich is uncut.

I've been watching all of the episodes on Netflix ($8 a month) and there is definitely nudity--mostly naked women and sexually suggestive things that were probably deleted from the Sci fy version that aired. I don't know about the DVDs, but I'd take Netflix any day over spending a fortune on DVDs.

No, I'm in the US and Netflix is $8 a month for streaming video. Netflix has a lot of movies and TV shows available as streaming video. I did just discover that just because something is available as a streaming video it won't always be that way. Apparently, some of their streaming agreements have an end date.

Was just watching Boomtown (Season 4) and there were plenty of breasts hanging around. About 5 women were getting in on with Stanley. lol. From what I can tell from my DVD's nothing was edited. I own the DVD's but prefer to watch on Netflix since I don't have to get up and change discs. lol.
And here in the US it's $7.99 a month for unlimited streaming of TV shows and movies on Netflix.

at Target right now they have the first two seasons for $5 each. They have some really good DVD deals going on right now.

Target now (July 2012) has Seasons 1, 2 & 3 for US$5.00 each. Best Buy has Seasons 3 and 4 as a set for US$14.99.

In the DVD's sold at Target, there is a shower scene with Xev in the Web/Net episodes. You can see her entire back above the waist and some side boob. She is wearing a belt, and although the frame ends there, you can pretty much tell that she's naked below it. I don't know if this differs from the original broadcast versions.

In canada, you can use unblock us to watch US Netflix http://www.unblock-us.com/ for 5$ a month(plus your Canadian Netflix subscription). Works like a charm and totally WORTH it. I don't mind paying 5$ more for all the new content!

Think I know the answer. I am 99.9% sure that they have not cut any scenes on any dvd release.

The only scene that we know are cut is the shower scene in season 1, and I believe the only reason becouse of this is that its simply lost. it was prob. cut becouse it was a tv show like said before, and IU think we can asume that they have simply lost this scene and thats why its never included.

However, if you do want it in the best quality. Then go and buy a laserdisc player and the lexx first season box and watch it with the shower scene =)

Yes, there was a bit of nudity. And that shower scene was just aweful (soooo cheesy). I know, Eva is lush, but still. It was too cheesey. Proper blue stilton.

Anyway, there is also the difference between the American version and the European version. There was some additional scenes in the European version (eg, after the initial Kai moment of the I Worship His Shadow, you see Stanley being tortured, but it was later moved to episode 4 as it was extremely out of context).

As for people's brains being cut out and limbs being lopped off, well, they don't edit much out of Spartacus, so I can't imagine them cutting much from Lexx.

The copy I have, Echo Bridge, shows Zev's nipples and a very uncovered crotch shot. I believe the whole run of the series was actually Showtime and heavily edited for Sci-fi.
