Probably an apt comparison as they are both traditional Catholic countries. I don't think it's the most brilliant show ever written. The solution is sometimes blazingly obvious, the message (there are always a few) trite, let alone a priest who knows everything, every language, etc. But it is a relief to not have nudes, boobs, blood and hacked bodies thrown at you. Even on the very rare trips to the morgue, you only see the head. It's a blessed relief, light comedy, light mystery and no one taking himself too seriously. It's refreshing.
