Was one purpose of Nick's scene at the Whiskey to show how hippies negatively reacted to the new sound of punk bands like Nick's? By '72 The MC5 and the Stooges already made a few albums, but they were more proto-punk with some classic rock roots. The aggressive, fast and short songs that Nick's band played at the Whiskey seems like it angered the crowd accustomed to hearing to traditional 60s and 70s rock 'n roll.
