This is a VERY well made movie with rich characterizations. You understand and genuinely care about every one of them. Top-notch acting. Yes, it can be slightly melodramatic at times in the first act. But still, great stuff all around. Even the very expensive, excellent special effects still hold up today! Originally, Mel Gibson was supposed to play the Clooney role and Clooney was supposed to play the Wahlberg role. Imagine how good that would have been?!!! I adore this excellent, heartbreaking movie.
