Yes. I can't speak German or Turkish and I still wondered about the fact that everybody spoke German all the time (as far as I could work out).
A mix of languages, like those in "QuinceaƱera" and "Joyeux Noel" would have worked well, I thought.

This was incredible. They all spoke fluent German. How and why did they learn to speak the language so well? They even speak it to each other! That's so different from my own experiences. Here it is mostly Turkish and completely unintelligible Dutch once in a while. Germany must have far superior integration policies.

Not really, the father said "Das ist meine Sohn", which is a mistake, should be "mein Sohn". I guess he made lots of other mistakes. So it was not really fluent German at all, Kirianis and Ahmet spoke with rather strange accents as well.

However it was quite strange when the Father said to Ibo (in German): "And I never speak German to you, because I can't speak German, although I've been living in Germany for 30 years". :D
