first German Kung-Fu film

LOL

saw it, met Hasan Ali Mete (Onkel Ahmet).

Especially liked Hasan's and Nora Tschirner's (Titzi) performances.

Wonder if the translation will be as good as the original ("foreigner" vs. "local" accent only makes sense in the local context -- Hamburg, Germany) ... at least it will be a *difficult* translation job.

Funny, but not really a comedy per se. "Culture clash"? More a "meeting of cultures" , really.

I just watched this hilarious film on cable tv in Australia and I loved it!

In regards to the translation, the english subtitles were excellent for all dialogue except for the scenes where the characters were rehearsing lines from Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Something was definately lost in the translation from German into Olde English.

Kebab Connection had me laughing out loud, especially for the first half of the film. Ibo is such an awesome character, his love of film, kung-fu and skating shows great passion, plus his mullet was too funny.

The advertisements directed by Ibo were awesome, I would actually watch the first German Kung-Fu film if it was made in the same style :)

The music in the film was great, I really enjoyed the turkish hip hop throughout.

I thought that the casting was a bit wierd, it just seemed that most of the female characters all looked alike, ie. Titzi & Stella & The Waitress. They weren't even the same nationalities, so maybe the casting director had a thing for brunettes :)

I gave this film 9/10!

I also saw this movie translated into english and it was still absolutely bloody hilarious.... ahhh
Yes, the mullet was very strange...maybe it doesn't carry the same stigma as it does back here in Oz, but I warmed to the haircut by the end anyway....
This film is fantastic and fun, there are some really great images scattered throughout it and Fatih Akin can do no wrong in my eyes....

I think they should do part 2 - a movie about the actual Kung-fu movie.
That would be really cool.
It was a super movie.

Can you do kung-fu? How do you know they can't? It looked pretty believable to me:)

And anyway, my point was to do a follow-up on the director being given the cash to do his first kung-fu movie and his girlfriend becoming an actress and both being parents and the restaurant rivalry...

The story would be less on the martial arts and more on the follow-up to the story...

They should do it 'cos it would make an interesting follow-up. I want to know how the lead character deals with a real movie and being a dad:)
I'll keep an eye out for Kampfsage since you're punting it so much:)

Love all your comments, totally agree. Ibo was filthy hot and Titzi was pretty!

What do you mean about the writer's message, though?
