Direct to Video Sequel?

I guess this was a direct to video sequel to the theatrical film K9. Saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and if I'm correct, I can see why it went direct to video. Pretty pointless sequel with a lame story and tired charcters.

I thought it wasn't that bad. not as good as the original, but it's decent. haven't seen #3.
