Since I really like adventure-type games I was trying to get my hands on some of the LucasArts classics, like Grim Fandango. So,my only question is-can i run Grim Fandango on Windows Professional XP?Please answer me,save my life by doing it...:)

yes it will run on xp. but you will need to download the patch from lucas arts, that fixes a few things on fast comps.

I don't see why XP wouldn't let you play it. It should play at top quality.

ACTUALLY... You need the patch to fix some errors in windows xp, but also, set the game to run on windows 98 compatibility mode (righ-click on the game shortcut, select "properties" and "compatibility"). Otherwise, the game could experience freezes and anoying stuff.

Can anyone help me? I had finally gotten the game to work after years of failure (I sometimes feel the copy may be bugged) with numerous machines failing to play it.

Well about a year ago I was able to finally install it and get a patch to play it right. But there were still issues: Sound would vanish completely after saving or using the options screen. And from time to time it would crash, or suffer an annoying sound glitch where it screeched horribly.

Getting to the kicker, I got to year 3 and arrived at Dominic's little base. I had just been thrown into the room with the kids in the cage, but yet for some reason it gets glitchy on certain conversations and then just crashes every time. I tried using the Windows 98 compatibility option, and it still crashed.

It just tears me up, I've been wanting to play this little gem (since I loved Monkey Isand, well not so much the 4th) and when I could finally enjoy it, there was something to kick me in the teeth. So I uninstalled it for the time being....

Please, any help would be greatly appreiciated.

It worked on my Windows XP laptop and Windows Vista PC. It crashed occasionally at first, but then I changed the compatibility mode and it has worked fine on both systems since.

Install the game, then find the 'play grim fandango' tab in your start menu, right click, 'properties', 'compatibility', 'run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 95', click 'apply', click 'ok'. Now play the game, it should work fine and with no need to get any patches or anything. I just completed the game without any technical problems having done this.
