And also let's not forget the idea of "adaption". You know they have a choice. Even if you don't like it, it's not like they weren't allowed. Since you seem to want to smite them for their changes than you need some more validation. What about this adaption didn't work? It was Godzilla helping them battle monsters of the week. It clearly worked people liked it. Just like the latter series it had an adaption phase, a formula and worked for what it was.
