Little things you noticed thread

There are a lot of details and references packed into into this movie. Some of them only reveal themselves on repeated viewings or not at all and you have to get pointed to it by others on the internet. Let's collect some of these small but interesting observations. I start:

* The pun concerning Fred's nationality: The American actor Tony Shalhoub is of Lebanese descent but he takes on the stage name Fred Kwan to play the Chinese-named character Tech Sergeant Chen. Funnily, when the Thermians are naming the crew, he narrows his eyes when his character's name is spoken to support his Chinese appearance.
This is considered to be a spoof of Japanese-American George Takei playing totally not Japanese-named Sulu on Star Trek.

* The Thermians, in their quest to make their technology as true to the show as possible, made the ion nebulizer's shots look unconvincing as they were in the show. Hence the hilarious scene of Sarris being 'vaporized' by vanishing with a puff of smoke and a small pyrotechnic charge.

* Mirroring scenes: In the opening scene of the lost episode 92, a computer voice announces "Systems register functional''. But as it turns out the Protector was lured into a trap. This scene is echoed at the end where a similar situation occurs after Sarris' ship explodes. The computer voice mentions again "Systems register functional". And again a trap is laid in the form of Sarris disguised as Fred.

One I did not notice for a long time:

The pig-lizard has just exploded over everyone in the transporter room. Jason, down on the planet, is wondering why the little green beings are still chanting "Gorignak". Tommy yells, "Teb, press the translator button!" At this point, don't look at Teb, look at Guy. He is sniffing and licking his hands!

At the end, when the new GQ series is announced, the actors actually take on poses like in the opening credits of the Love Boat series! (If memory serves me right...)

The scene in the electronic store when Guy is with a girl and she says "but you live with your mom", as she brushes him off. lol

Okay, well... filibuster.

The registration number of the GQ ship is "NTE-3120". NTE stands for Not The Enterprise.

Commander Taggart does refer to Guy as Fleegman on the beryllium sphere planet, right after the "do I have a last name? Do I???" scene.

Not sure how this is remotely related to the topic. It makes perfect sense, if you don't get the corpse before the hearse.

"Guy Fleegman" is the character played by Sam Rockwell, in the movie, Galaxy Quest (1999). Guy Fleegman is the actor (played by actor Sam Rockwell), who plays "Crewman #6" (as called, but probably unscripted) in Galaxy Quest the TV show (1982), in Galaxy Quest the movie. Guy Fleegman's role in the TV show has NO name, first or last. When Nesmith, being himself (not Allen), addresses Guy Fleegman as Fleegman, he was addressing him by his stage name, last, the same as Guy would address Nesmith, as Nesmith (or as Rockwell would address Allen, for that matter).

Fleegman was scared because he was sure he was going to die, in reality, and right soon. He was living the TV show, live, and he had no name. At the end of Galaxy Quest the movie, he was given a name for the encore TV series, introduced as "Security Chief 'Roc' Ingersol", played by Guy Fleegman. Finally, Guy had a name, and a job title.

No one knew his name, because he didn't have one. He was a red-shirt, who died before the first commercial in one episode. When they embarked on the mission with the Thermians, he was still a red-shirt without a name, and he knew exactly what that meant.

I noticed a lot of little (surprising/interesting) things. This didn't make the list.

Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

When they are on the planet and the little cute monsters suddenly turn snarling and attack the other one, Tawny turns and runs and says "Let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy!"

LOL a nod to how Guy is the disposable character whose only purpose is to die on the planet.

I cracked up when I heard that.

I didn't notice Dwight K. Schrute in this until I saw it several times!

at the chompers when Sigourney Weaver is losing it you can hear the ridiculously long sequence through the communicator and Tim Allen is looking at it incredulously

after Rickman has finished kicking some lizard butt, his mask is skew whiff
