What the hell! Does anyone wanna...

Does anyone wanna explain the plot of this movie to me because I watched it and I was lost for words really. The plot changed so many times, I lost it. How comes this followed on from the first one, the only bit that I remember being in the first one is when they're speaking about Amos. So please, possibly COTCgirl can you explain because I'd like to watch it again so I can make more sense of it.

Okay maybe I can help shed some light on this plot. It never tells you in the first film but before Isaac goes into the coma which we assume he does after he comes back from the dead in COTC he makes a prophecy that the first born daughter of the "first children" will come back to Gatlin to find her birth mother on the eve of her 19th birthday. When she comes back she will set off a chain of events that will eventually lead to her (the first born daughter) mating or whatever term you'd like to use with the first born son of the "first children" and they will create the child which is to lead all of the children including Isaac himself. This goes back to the quote I ususally use on the end of my posts "A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM." Anyway, after that Isaac goes into a coma and to keep people from killing the kids that are left (Cora, The Doctor, and unknown other) hide Isaac in the hospital. So the movie opens with Hannah starting off the chain of events by going back to Gatlin to find her real mother and picks up the stranger Jeremiah which tells her exactaly what will become of her. We later learn that Rachel was the wife of Amos from the original COTC. You see 19 years have passed from COTC to COTC 6. So Hannah is returning to Gatin on the eve of her 19th b-day which just happens to be Halloween. So anyway. Isaac is in a coma until the "child" from his prophecy comes back and awakens him. Hannah meets Gaberiel who seems like a nice all there guy until later. Through the film different people help Hannah keep the ball moving in the prophecy. Although maybe they nor Hannah know it. Hannah's mother tells her about it later she says, "The first born daughter will return on the eve of her 19th birthday to find out who she is, and He Who Walks Behind the Rows will awaken." You see Isaac did a nasty deed. Instead of claiming Gaberiel as the first born son he cast him aside and claimed that his own son, Matt was the first. Thus He Who Walks Behind the Rows possessed Gaberiel. Gaberiel confronts Isaac later towards the end and Isaac realizes that HWWBTR has possessed Gabe. And knows he's done for. But, the prophecy has already been achevied. Gaberiel (the real first born son) and Hannah (the first born daughter) mated and created a child. Good ole Gabe tells us this in the end saying "the seed has already been sowen." So in the near furture Hannah will bore a son and name his Samuel. He will have great visions (kind of a la Isaac) and will become a prophet to the children. So basically you have the child of HWWBTR leading the children in a future episode. Hope this helps if you need more of an explaination or other questions arise let me know.

Okay, I've haven't seen this movie and I haven't seen any of the COTC movies since the 2nd one i think, but I have a question. By reading your summary it appears there are quite a bit of grown ups in the town of Gatlin. I mean I know that Isaac would be older than 18 and I'd think that Hannah's mother was older than 18 and even Hannah's over 18, what is the deal? Did they stop killing people 18 and older somewhere down the line of all these sequals or what?

The remaining children from the original movie, mainly Cora, the town cop kept Isaac alive. Isaac went into a coma after the first film. Cora made the town's doctor who was also a cult member Dr. Michaels hide Isaac in the county hospital so people wouldn't turn against him and kill him. Rachel gave Hannah away as a baby to save her from the monstrosities of Gatlin. Hannah is 18. The age of favor is 19 which means that they sacrifice themselves on their 19th birthdays. Hannah's 19th birthday is the day after she arrives in Gatlin. Her birthday is Halloween. The age of favor has always been 19 in all of the films not 18. So the only adults in the town are Isaac, Dr. Michaels, Cora, Cora's demented brother Jake, and Rachel Colby, Hannah's mother. And, most of them don't make it to the final scene. And, if you'll recall there is an adult even in the first COTC film. The gas station attendent. Also there are adults in COTC II, and really in all of the COTC films. And, in COTC 5 there is even an adult that acts as a care giver to the children. So they haven't stopped killing they'll always brandish their weapons. Hope this helps let me know if you have anymore questions.

Actually at some point and time they changed it to 18 years old.....Might have been a mistake but in the 4th and 5th movies they were saying we die on our 18th birthday...just a glitch but orginally its 19.....

I miss Twiggy....sad

reply

Right. It is 19 originally. My guess for the glitch is that they either didn't review the other films a great deal before making the others or they took their ages from the short story. Because in the short story the age is taken down to 18. It says this. "From 19 plantings down to 18 seedlings." or something to this effect. The age though is 19. I hope that my other explanation helped you out jackblink182.

Just a quick question: I was just wondering where Cora and Dr Michaels were in the first movie, as you have stated that the original children are now adults and live in Gatlin? Sorry, just slightly confused...

reply

It never shows them. I'm guessing they are just characters that were supposedly there in the first film just never shown and they brought them up in the screenplay to flesh it out more. That's just my guess. It shows Rachel but I don't think that Cora or Dr. Michaels were that big of characters in the first film so there was no need to show them. If that makes sense. Hope I helped. Feel free to ask anything else.

What did the little kids in this film have to do with anything??

All they did was run through the corn giggling a few times, and then it showed that wierd boy closing Hannah's door... But it went NOWHERE with it...

COTCgirl... EXPLAIIIINNNNNN :)

reply

You know even I'm stumped as to why they had that little boy with the missing front teeth always staring at Hannah and creeping her out. Maybe to symbolize coming events like with Hannah becoming pregnate with a son and so forth. But even I am not sure as to why that little boy was always running amok.

I watched the film today and have to say that i was incredibly dissapointed. You say that Rachel was in the first CotC but i was wondering where abouts she was in it. I think the ending was terrible and could have been made so much scarier i was laughing. This was way to tame compared to the first movie. i would also like to ad in the third movie when you get to see HWWBTR ITS THE FAKEST WORST SPECIAL EFFECTS EVER! thank-you.

reply

I have a question. Do you ever see Vicky, Burt or the two kids they take with them at the end of COTC1 again? I`ve only seen the COTC1 before but hope to see a few of the others soon.
Thanks

reply

Nope. You never see them again nor are they mentioned in any of the sequels.

"Well that blew ropey goat chunks now didn't it?

reply

Actually they are mentiioned in COTC 2 when a police officer says that a couple who were driving through Gaitlin reported what happened there.

Also another question, why are there still people in the town. IN COTC 2, all the surviving chidren where moved to the next town, So how did Rachel and Cora and the others escape detection when the police removed all the kids?

Also if you go back to the original COTC, Rachel was not loyal to Issac. She was more loyal to Malachi, as seen when Issac is on the corn cross, and Rachel walks in with Amos, she smiles as Issac is hanging on the corn cross.

u havent seen any of the children of the corn. and im watching this one right now and im so *beep* confused by everything from the midget who random can turn a tap on to why there are children still in the town

Bring On The Deadpool Movie!!!!!!!!

reply

It was always 18. In the first movie they said something like "On the 1st day of the 19th year." Which would be their 18th birthday.

reply

Expect for the 5th movie the age of favor is 19
