Rik Mayall is brilliant!

Rik read 'George's Marvellous Medicine' on Jacanory and it was excellent! Rik is just so talented and handsome - he is simply the best!

reply

That's the only Jackanory I ever remember. He was so good running around throwing stuff all over himself.

reply

Yes, it was classic manic style Mayall! Good stuff!

They showed some of this on TV the other night. Couldn't believe it. Was great to see it again.

"Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"

reply

Yeah same here. I can't remember any other ones! I wish they'd show it again.

reply

i taped the rik mayall episode so i can watch it voer and over again because he really was great reading that.

What's that? You just called me a bastard didn't you!

reply

you can find a clip of The George's Medicine reading on youtube if you search under Rik Mayall.

But his storytelling was put to better use on Grim Tales - those weird, dark fairy tales that he told in an Ostrich Chair which had hands and moved.

I'll always remember the stroy about all the little lambs running around the house trying to hide from a wolf: one behind the sofa, one put a lampshade on his head to be a lamp...but the best bit was when he said "one jumped down the toilet and pretended to be a poo".

Even my dad laughed at that bit. HAHAHAHAH Ace!

I didn't even like George's Marvellous Medicine as a book, but I was riveted to the screen when Rik Mayall was reading it.

Just a painted face on a trip down suicide row
