Where was this show filmed?

Does anyone know where this show was filmed?

I absolutely loved it when I was in preschool
and I've been to a lot of oceanside places, but it's been so long since I watched this the filming locations don't seem familiar.

Was this filmed in Florida?

I can proudly say that Gullah Gullah Island was filmed predominately in Beaufort, South Carolina. (pronounced "Byoo-fort", not "bo-fort") Beaufort has actually hosted a number of major film productions including, "Forrest Gump," "Full Metal Jacket," and "The Jungle Book" just to name a few. Beaufort also happens to be the home of one of only two Marine Corps training camps in the US. But back to Gullah Gullah Island, Ron and Natalie Daise still live in Beaufort. Mr. Daise taught an English class at Beaufort High School for several years, I was one of his students. Their daughter Sarah (she wasn't on the show) is a junior at Beaufort High School. She's a VERY talented singer, and is also on the BHS band. (The BHS band can be seen playing the show's theme song at the end of one of the episodes)Their son, Simeon is also extremely talented. He's now in the eighth grade, and stared as Joseph in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" last summer at the local performing arts center. It sure is a shame that they canceled the show. I'm not sure how well the show rated nationally, but the Beaufortonians loved it. The show gave many locals a chance to be on national TV.

This show was filmed at Universal Studios in Orlando. The house was on a soundstage in the Nickeleodeon section of the park. I think that the filmed segments were done on-location in Beaufort, South Carolina. I am not sure but I am positive about Orlando because I was responsible for costumes. I hope that helps...

I actually met Ron and Natalie. They were at a Barnes and Noble in Charleston. I freaked out cause as a child, I was able to tell the difference between a show and reality-and the other kids could not. So they asked questions like "How's your daughters?" refering to the show. And Ron and Natalie, bless them, replied in character to the kids. And I was confused as hell, wondering if the actors were really related, or what. Note that at the time, I was about...two or three or four. Really young.

Thank you for flying the church of England, cake or death?

ME TOO! I went in October of 1997 when I was 8 and I did the tour and saw the sets! They were filming the Christmas episode. I didn't see any of the cast members though--the set was all decked out with Christmas decorations. I also remember that they used that set for a skit on All That. (Just the outside) I'm not kidding, I'm serious.

They did most of the filming at the Nick Studios in FL but they definitely did location shots in SC on Hunting Island. I grew up in Charleston, and I never got to meet Ron and Natalie but they visited my little sister's school when we were younger.

The sets were on stage 18 at Universal Studios Florida but yes indeed some parts of the episodes were filmed in Beaufort. Also filmed around the same time on that stage (and sometime simultaneously, hence the set "crossovers") were Kenan and Kel, Clarissa Explains it all, All That, Figure it Out and Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Filmed across the breezeway on Stage 21 was the briefly lived spin-off "Binyah's Pond"

For the last half a year stage 18 is host to The Blue Man Group permanent performance space.

I always thought the show's name was a reference to Hilton Head Island, which is in Beaufort County, SC. Hilton Head is home to the Gullah people. Here's the Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gullah

My kids watched this show when they were little....I thought is was filmed in Beaufort Cty., SC. The Gullah-Geechee are from the low country of SC ( Usually their barrier islands) and some of the barrier islands in GA.

They filmed scenes at the house at Nickelodeon Studios

it's the same House as Clarissa Explains it all

I got to see the stage along with Legends of the Hidden Temple during a studio tour back in 1993 when I was there last. The stage wasn't all that impressive though. It looks big on TV, but in real life, the stage was no bigger than a house garage.
