Why is Colonel Hicks now Major Hicks? Did he got demoted ??

I love Hicks character because he is this stereotyped army commander and one of the only 2 persons in the real movie to reprise their role in the series.

Also, because the name rhymes with Corporal Hicks in Aliens!! Are they somehow related?

Anyway, did anybody ever realised that Colonel Anthony Hicks is now Major Hicks in this series?
